Jones, Terry & KendaTerry Alan Jones, Minister

Terry and his family came to Southside in 1988 to begin work as the minister for the congregation. He and his wife Kenda are both natives of Hohenwald, TN and attended Freed-Hardeman University and David Lipscomb University. Terry also attended Harding Graduate School of Religion in Memphis, TN.

Terry and Kenda have three adult children–Jerry, a son, lives in Hopkinsville, with his son, James, and Marie, a daughter, lives in Brentwood, Tennessee, with her husband, Jason Caskey, and two children, McKenleigh and Rhys, and the youngest son, Adam, who lives in Franklin, Tennessee, with his wife, Theresa.

Terry is in his twenty-sixth  year of work with Southside. Prior to his work here, he served the Berry’s Chapel Church of Christ in Franklin, TN, for seven and one-half years. Previous to that he worked with Southwest Church of Christ in Jonesboro, AR, the Holly Springs Church of Christ in Holly Springs, MS, and the Wingate Church of Christ in Nashville, TN.

 

Edwards, Walter & SusanWalter B. Edwards, Associate Minister

 Walter Edwards, Southside’s semi-retired associate minister, served as the regular minister for eighteen years and has served as associate for thirteen.  He was born in Benton, Kentucky.  He attended David Lipscomb University, Nashville, Tennessee and graduated in 1956.  He then attended Harding Graduate School from which he graduated with a degree in New Testament in 1957.

He and the former Susan Ann Shoemaker of Clarksville, Tennessee were married in 1954. They have two children, Byron who lives in Bowling Green, Kentucky, and a daughter, LaWanna, who lives in Nashville.  They have two grandchildren, Adam and Ashley.

Thirty-one years of brother Edwards’ fifty-three years in the ministry have been served here at Southside.  He has had the privilege of serving under all three “generations” of Southside’s elders.  His wife, Susan, has been a very active preacher’s wife having worked in the children’s Bible school programs in all the places where he served as minister.

Dunn, Phil & Betsy croppedPhil Dunn, Associate Minister

Phil has been associated with Southside on two different occasions.  From 1985 until 1993 he was the Associate Minister working mostly with the Outreach Ministries.  He left in 1993 to preach for the Little River Church of Christ until 2003, when he returned to Southside working with the Young Adult Ministry.

Phil is a native of Hopkinsville and is employed at T.RAD North America, Inc. for the past 18 years as General Manager of Human Resources.  He is married to Betsy and between them they have 7 children.  Betsy and her late husband, Jerry had 3 children, Dale and Chris Lewis and a daughter Melissa.  Phil and his late wife, Debbie had four children, Lori, Amy, Mike and Matt.  They have 3 grandchildren.

Phil graduated from Hopkinsville High School and attended Freed-Hardeman University, Lipscomb University and received his Master Degree from Western Kentucky University.

 

Selbe, Ben croppedBen Selbe, Youth Minister

Ben began working with Southside in January of 2011. He grew up in Henderson, TN and moved to Paducah, KY in the fall of 2004. He graduated from Lone Oak High school in 2004, and  attended Freed-Hardeman University. He graduated in May of 2010 with a B.S. in Biochemistry and a minor in Youth Ministry.

Prior to beginning his work at Southside, Ben worked as a counselor at Mid-South Youth Camp and worked as a youth intern at Crosswinds Church of Christ in Three-Way, TN. While in college, Ben worked part time in the Emergency Room at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital as a Technician. He is a certified lifeguard and is certified in first-aid and CPR.

Ben’s parents, Jim and Lisa Selbe live in Hopkinsville and are members at Southside, and his brother Wes and Wes’s wife, Rachael, currently lives in Mount Juliet, TN.
